NATO Phonetics ft. Suman Koirala

Josh: Hey everyone, I'm Josh

Erick: I'm Erick.

Suman: And I'm Suman

Erick: Today's idea is what are we going to do on the weekend? Suman, thank you for being here for another episode, we were kind of chatting the other week about what exactly we're going to do this weekend. And your response was you're going to learn to swim or develop a new app. And so the big question is, did you learn how to swim?

Suman: Ah, no.

Josh: Well, what did you do instead?

Suman: I made an app that translates normal words into NATO phonetics,

Josh: Uh, into NATO phonetics. What the heck is that?

Suman: It is like, uh, where the app has its own word.

Josh: Uh, just I'll I'll look it up.

Erick: So this last weekend I went swimming and learning to swim. It's gotta be somewhere still on your list, isn't it?

Josh: Yes. Okay. Now remember the NATO phonetic alphabet, officially denoted as the international radio telephony spelling, alphabet, and also commonly known as the ICAO phonetic alphabet and in a variation also officially known as the ITU phonetic, alphabet and figure code. Erick, did you know it's the most widely used radio telephone spelling alphabet.

Erick: Yes, obviously.

Josh: Uh

Suman: Actually it means that A translated into alpha and B is translated to Bravo.

Josh: Ah, yes. That makes more sense than why I just read off of Wikipedia. So Suman, if you don't get around to swimming, what's your next, uh, random side project?

Suman: Uh, maybe Suman's chatbot.

Erick: I, I actually knew that that Bravo alpha stuff, just for the record, that makes sense that you're going to make a chat bot because you chat so much that you don't talk at all, but either way you should know though that the pool it's going to be closing down like relatively soon and you might want to get on that swimming before the disgusting cold comes back.
